On That Note- Embracing Singing and Creative Expression Amidst the Everyday



Even just a moment- for oneself, to reset, to remember connection, to greet the inner child and fly free in an expression of vocal joy…not always easy to carve into the hustle bustle and the necessary tasks of the day.


But essential?


Hmmm- in the grand scheme of things, creative outlets like singing can feel like a luxury rather than a necessity.


Yet…


Singing offers a powerful way to reconnect with our essential state of being and can serve as one of the efficient ways to recalibrate and shift the state of our nervous system (cue belting out a classic fave in the acoustically sound shower- I mean maybe there’s a reason we all sound so darn wonderful in the bathroom- just add that perfectly temperate water and bam, reset complete!)



Whether we sing for our proverbial supper or sing purely for our soul, the core objective benefits of singing serve more than a hobby; singing is a form of self-expression that nurtures mental and emotional health. Research shows that singing releases endorphins, reduces cortisol levels, and promotes a sense of community when shared with others (an entirely glorious benefit). 

To boot, singing for adults can also provide a much needed break from routine stress (the slow hum of stress- so to speak- that can catch up with us unawares), boost confidence and self-esteem (an obvious classic but true non the less), enhance breathing and posture (yes to breathing!) and encourage mindfulness and presence (tick tick!).
